Does God Know?

By: Jamie Mason |  A sweet little kindergartner girl asked, “Does God know my thoughts before I say them?” Absolutely! He knows each and every thought before we say them. “But why? I want to know my thoughts before I say them, why can’t I be God?” I answered, “Because you can’t, we only have one God. We only need one God. If we were all God. Why would we need God?” I think she was content with that answer.

So, there have been several times that I had thoughts like, “I wish I had a notebook that I could write a prayer journal in at work.” And then within minutes, I had a guest walked in and asked me if I needed a notebook because she had an extra one. I said really- because I just had a thought about getting a notebook and using it as a prayer journal! What an amazing thought that God cares so much about that thought that it came true within minutes. It was so amazing.

Another time I had this happen was when I was house-sitting for a friend for a week. The year before when I was house-sitting for the same friend, my sister drove 45 minutes to have lunch with me. So this year I thought, “Who am I going to have lunch with this year because my sister was not available?” While I was house-sitting I would take the newspaper to the lady next door and put it in her screen door because she was elderly and wasn’t able to walk very far.

On Thursday afternoon, I wanted coffee. Wendy’s has coffee for $.25. I have been there several times with friends and family to enjoy fellowship, coffee and sometimes a meal or snack. However, at that particular time, there wasn’t anybody available. I thought I should just go home and forget about it and then I decided to go through the drive-thru, get a cup and go home. As I entered the parking lot, I saw a van that looked like my friends. I decided to go in and see if it was my friends. As I was walking in, I was thinking- if they are almost done, I’ll take it to go. They were at the counter ordering- it was perfect timing. They had been traveling and I hadn’t seen them in church for several weeks.

The other night we were going to Wednesday night Bible Study and we were running late. I was craving a cup of coffee (coffee is a comfort drink to me, it is also something I give up when I fast), and didn’t have time for stopping. My grandson and I had started to go to another church on Wednesday nights, so I didn’t want to show up late with people that I didn’t know. I’ve had some anxiety in my life lately and I didn’t want to add more. Driving to the church, I had the thought we could go get ice cream afterward when we had more time. As we arrived on time, the minister announced that the group we were part of were all going to get ice cream. What?!? Really!?! God, you are such an awesome God!

God has blessed me in so many ways over the years, and when God answers my thoughts (I didn’t feel the need to pray about them- however, God wants us to pray without ceasing) I feel exceptionally blessed and favored.

When God does answer thoughts, I give Him the glory. It wasn’t a coincidence that they happened. We have to be aware and connected to God to see what God’s doing in our lives and all around us!

Today’s Truth:
1 Corinthians 2:11 CSB
“For who knows a person’s thoughts except his spirit within him? In the same way, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”

Luke 5:22 CSB
“But perceiving their thoughts, Jesus replied to them, “Why are you thinking this in your hearts?”

Today’s Prayer:

“Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you slow me down long enough to see the many blessings you give to me on a daily basis. Lord, I pray that each and every sister that is reading this would see the daily blessings also. In Christ’s Mighty name I pray. Amen”

Today’s Challenge/Response:

Take time every day to develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ! Seek Him every day so you are able to listen to His voice and feel His presence. And be willing to do the unworldly things He calls us to do!!
